Prior to the creation of the East Wildlife Foundation and his work as Director and President, Carlos R. Martinez served as President and Shareholder of the Certified Public Accounting firm of Martinez, Lockhart & Novosad, P.C. During the course of his employment there, Carlos came to know and work closely with Mr. Robert C. East and several members of his immediate family, long-standing clients of the firm.
Carlos attended Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, graduating in 1984 with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting. In March of 1987 he became board certified by the State Board of Public Accountancy and from that time onward has remained an active member of some of the leading professional associations in his field, including the AICPA, the TSCPA, and the Corpus Christi Chapter of CPAs.
In addition to his extensive professional experience, Carlos also served in the United States Army from October 1972 through November 1975. An active leader in his local community, Carlos has maintained his commitment to public service, having acted as Board member of the Corpus Christi Literacy Council, Board member of South Texas Council, Boy Scouts of America, Board member and President of Corpus Christi Estate Planning Council, and member of Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
