Land Stewardship Ambassadors
Our Land Stewardship Ambassadors (LSA) program raises awareness of land stewardship principles, promotes civic engagement among today’s youth, and inspires students to pursue careers that support land stewardship.

What is lsa?
We partner with the Witte Museum to bring the Land Stewardship Ambassadors (LSA) program to students in Bexar, Cameron, and Webb counties.
Students can apply to participate in a 10-session course that explores topics like the history of conservation, principles of wildlife management, managing watersheds, human dimensions of land stewardship, and the role politics play in natural resource management.
A cohort of 15 students will be selected in each of the following counties:
- Bexar
- Cameron
- Webb
Students from outside of these counties may apply but should know the meetings will take place in person and in a central location. The three cohorts will meet separately except for the two dates noted in the timeline below.*
Meeting Locations
Bexar County Cohort: Witte Museum in San Antonio
Cameron County Cohort: Camp Rio at Historic Lula Sams in Brownsville
Webb County Cohort: Falcon Bank in Laredo
Those who successfully complete the 10-session program will earn a $400 stipend.
SWBC, the Albert and Margaret Alkek Foundation, the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, and H-E-B generously support our Land Stewardship Ambassadors program.
