Modeling the Influence of Livestock Grazing Pressure on Grassland Bird Distributions

Vegetative changes from livestock grazing significantly impact grassland birds, yet traditional species distribution models (SDMs) often exclude indirect variables like grazing pressure. This study aimed to enhance SDMs for three South Texas grassland bird species by incorporating livestock grazing pressure as an indirect variable across five different algorithms, and compared model performance with and without this variable using data collected from the Coloraditas Grazing Research and Demonstration Area.
