A study of nilgai antelope in southern Texas from 2018-2021 found high pregnancy rates (79%) and frequent twins (56%), with sexual maturity reached as early as 1 year old. These findings confirm high fecundity in the introduced population, suggesting a need for targeted harvest management of nilgai cows to prevent overpopulation.
