Carbon credit markets have emerged as a response to increasing concerns about climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. These markets allow organizations to offset their carbon emissions by purchasing credits generated through land-based carbon capture efforts. The process involves landowners managing their land to accumulate soil carbon, developers establishing measurement standards, registries verifying and tracking credits, and brokers connecting suppliers with buyers. While this system offers opportunities for landowners and technological innovation, adoption remains slow due to various barriers and structural challenges.
