Tina Yturria Buford’s family has held its South Texas ranch land since 1858. Six generations later, she helps run the H. Yturria Land and Cattle Company alongside her sister while also serving as Director of Strategic Partnerships for East Foundation. Host Liz Crawford talks with Tina about what has helped her family keep its land largely intact for more than 160 years, the moment it nearly didn’t hold, and how a family makes decisions as ownership expands across generations. They explore two different approaches to preserving land across generations: a family passing land to its heirs, and the East Foundation, where Robert East’s ranch became a foundation designed to hold the land in perpetuity.
