Keeping Antibiotics Effective – Combatting Antimicrobial Resistance in U.S. Agriculture

Antimicrobials, including antibiotics, are designed to kill harmful organisms like bacteria, but their overuse in both human medicine and agriculture has led to increasing bacterial resistance. This antimicrobial resistance poses a significant threat to human health and food security in the 21st century, as it could render many current treatments ineffective and potentially cause millions of deaths.
