Tracking Texas Wildlife – Ascend with Dr. Ashley Reeves

Ashley Reeves is on the front lines of wildlife conservation in South Texas, working with East Foundation to help restore one of the rarest wild cats in America, the ocelot. Follow Ashley through her day‑to‑day work as a conservationist, setting live traps in hopes of safely capturing these elusive cats for research and recovery efforts. Because ocelots are incredibly rare, the traps don’t always catch their intended target. Along the way, Ashley and her team encounter a variety of other small critters, offering a behind‑the‑scenes look at the patience, unpredictability, and dedication required in wildlife conservation. Beyond the fieldwork, this story is also about balance. Ashley is not only a researcher and conservationist, but also a wife and mother, navigating life between science, family, and the outdoors.

The video also follows her outside of conservation work, including time spent on a duck hunt, showing the deep connection she has to the land and wildlife she works to protect. This is an intimate look at conservation in action, the people behind the science, and the quiet fight to save a species from disappearing forever.
