Jose Silverio Ávila Sánchez is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Range and Wildlife management while studying and comparing the effects of summer and winter prescribed burning on vegetative composition and root structure of gulf cordgrass communities. The main objective of this study is to analyze the fire intensity of the burn, vegetative composition response of the community after burn (species diversity, density, recruitment and mortality), above ground forage and forb production, foliar cover and visual obstruction and for last root morphology and total non-structural carbon.
Silverio was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico and raised mainly in the south region of Tamaulipas. He received his bachelor’s degree in Forestry Engineering from Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro at Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico.
